Our history

Kutaisi University  is the first private higher education institution in Western Georgia,  founded in 1991.

Kutaisi University offers students high-quality education that meets international standards, diverse exchange programs, and practice-oriented learning. Kutaisi University implements educational programs at all three levels.

The university operates faculties of medicine and social sciences, business and law, within which both Georgian-language and English-language educational programs are implemented.

In addition to academic education, Kutaisi University offers students development in artistic and cultural areas.

The university creates a creative environment and conditions for students and promotes their realization in the field of art. For this purpose, a theater troupe, a choreographic ensemble "Erisa", and a fun and clever club "Sensation" have been created. 

Kutaisi University has student clubs that are created based on student interests. The existence of a club, in its essence, involves uniting students with the same interest under one umbrella and planning extracurricular activities.

University students have the right to form clubs with various profiles and directions in agreement with the Student and Alumni Service Center and the Student Self-Government.

About Kutaisi University

International recognition

Kutaisi University is an individual associate member of the EUA (European University Association). It is the fifth private university in Georgia to join the European University Association, which is a unique opportunity to be involved in the process of developing European educational policy. Since its establishment, Kutaisi University has been cooperating with 67 universities from 21 countries within the framework of memorandums of understanding. This fact allows it to accept foreign students and lecturers, have double degree programs, as well as exchange programs for students, academic and administrative staff. Accordingly, students are given the opportunity to participate in exchange programs. They travel abroad intensively, while citizens of other countries receive education at Kutaisi University. In addition to Kutaisi University's focus on providing quality education, the Student and Alumni Service Center, with the support of partner organizations, takes care of the employment and internships of students and graduates.

Economic Research Institute

The goal of the institute's activities is to promote the development of research in the field of economic problems and ensure the involvement of qualified researchers in the field in university processes, establish an effective system for supporting innovative research activities, and share best research practices in cooperation with local and international partners.

The refereed international scientific-practical journal “Economic Profile” (ISSN 1512 – 3901), founded by Kutaisi University, has been published since 2006. Since 2017, the journal has been assigned an electronic international standard serial number (E ISSN 2587 – 5310). The journal is dedicated to the results of research and practical work of leading scientists and specialists from Georgia and other countries of the world.
